THIS WEEK'S SCRAPROOM STEAL: (May 30-June 5)

THIS WEEK'S SCRAPROOM STEAL:
MAYA ROAD COFFEE BREAK TIN W/CHIPBOARD ALBUM PLUS
FOOFALA CD TIN WITH ACCORDIAN-FOLD PAPER ALBUM: $10.00

This week's steal is a blast from the past - or is the correct term, "vintage" when an item is so old I can't determine what the retail price was? :) When it comes to these tins and accompanying albums, however, "oldies are definitely goodies!" I have been keeping these adorable handled coffee break tins with coordinating chipboard board books in my personal stash for many years now, knowing that they will be perfect for some mini-album projects and gifts. And, even when I realized that I'm not making mini-albums these days, I couldn't bear to part with this little tin because it was just so cute! However, I must redeem some space, so I'm offering them up to you all this week!

*Measuring 6.4" x 3.6" x 2.8", the Maya Road Coffee Break Tin is perfect for altering or decorating. It can be easily painted without sanding, and the handles come off so that there is no need to cut patterned paper around the top. It latches securely and flips open with a hinge.
*The 10-page coordinating Coffee Break Chipboard Book is sized to fit inside the tin, measuring 2.75" tall by 5.75" wide.
*The WHITE Foofala CD tin is sized to fit CDs and includes an 8-page accordian-fold paper album that fits perfectly inside.

Both tins will make perfect mini-album projects and will be great for gift-giving - or for storing little goodies in your scrap space. :)

(Shipping for NON-Club Members will be $6.99./TSR Members can elect to have this item shipped with your next club shipment.)

You can purchase this week's Steal through our shopping cart by clicking on the following link: THIS WEEK'S SCRAPROOM STEAL. Or, if you are currently a TSR member, then you can e-mail us with your order at admin@scrap-room.com. :)

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
  • Each Monday morning between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m., we'll post a new super-saver-scrappin' deal that we're calling SCRAPROOM STEALS! Quantities on these steals are very limited, and when they're gone, they're gone.
  • ScrapRoom Steals are offered for one week only or until they're gone!
  • ScrapRoom Steals are amazing Scrappin' Deals, with everything being discounted at least 40%-90% off of retail prices.
  • Since you know we love kits, most ScrapRoom Steals will consist of items bundled together for greater savings (and more fun)!

Meet Our Guest Blogger and Sneak #3!

Hello...It's Friday!!!! And we have a treat for you...it's Guest Blogging Time from our TSR Favorite!!!! So meet........

    LAURA!!!

So, my name is Laura Kayra. I am from Finland but moved to Melbourne, Australia, a few years ago, together with my partner Paul and our gorgeous cat Sokeri. She is our baby and we love her to bits! Smile She has done a great job training us to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. What a spoiled little cat she is.

I have been scrapping for about 4 years now. Before that I mainly made cards. Once we moved here and I started visiting a nearby scrapbook shop, I just had to give scrapping a go... and of course, I got hooked! I looooove playing with paper. I think that is my favourite part of scrapbooking.. looking at all the pretty papers.. cutting.. glueing.. it is all fun! Oh, and all the pretty colours! I have mainly scrapped 12x12 layouts, but now I want to start making letter size ones only.

    What I love about ScrapRoom:
The ScrapRoom is my absolute favorite place. I was really wanting to buy scrapping kits and looked at a lot of different shops, but I never seemed to find anything I liked. The kits I saw had too many papers from one range and big packets of embellies etc. Then I found my way to ScrapRoom and immediately fell in love with the kits. I love it that each month I get 4 different kits in one. There are so many pretty papers! I also actually love it that we get selection of embellishments. There are always enough to use with the papers, but not so many that there would always be lots of leftovers. Tammy does an amazing job at picking the papers and embellishments for us.

I suffer from anxiety and get easily overwhelmed. I have so many supplies and often, trying to start scrapping is too overwhelming because there is so much choice on what supplies to use. The ScrapRoom kits are perfect for me as when I start scrapping, I just pull out one bag and make a layout with whatever I find there. I love challenging myself to make it work! When I am finished, I just shovel everything back into the bag and put it away. So easy and clean and not the least bit overwhelming.

I also really love the choice of additional kits. If you scrap more, you can pick extra cardstock and papers as well as embellishments. Of course, if you love stamping, there is always something cute there for you to try! I don’t think that there is anything at all that I don’t like about ScrapRoom! Even the price of the kits is fantastic! Yippee!

    5 random facts about me:
    1. I love running around the house with my head down and arms stretched behind me, pretending to be superman.
    2. I looooooooooooove pretty lights on trees! I actually squeal with excitement whenever we drive past a tree like that.
    3. I consider myself a fairly good driver, but I cannot reverse park... nor reverse in a straight line.
    4. I just tried welding for the first time and now I would love to learn more DIY stuff.
    5. I don’t like mushrooms. The texture makes me gag. Eeek!

And here are few of Laura's fabulous layouts...

    Thanks Laura! And Sneak #3.......

    DT Inspiration with Jenny!

When you sit down to start a layout, where do you find your inspiration most often? For me, my photos seem to give me that first spark of creativity. I love pulling from colors and elements in my photos for my scrapbook pages!

This month, while working with the Glitz "Laced with Grace" collection from the May kit, I was a little stumped as to what photo to use for my page. That is, until I found this photo of my son:

I loved the "rustic" look of my photo's background, and I was immediately drawn to the orange rust color of the tractor tire he is sitting in. The rust color matched the Glitz papers perfectly, so I knew I had found my photo. :)

To play up the "rust" feel, I spritzed my green cardstock with some spray ink for the main background of my page. This gave it a "speckled" appearance like the rust does to the tractor tire in my photo. Secondly, I slightly tore and rolled up the edges of my patterned papers to give them a distressed look.

So, next time you are trying to figure out what to do with a certain part of a kit - perhaps a certain paper line that looks a little intimidating at first glance - look no further than to your photos for some inspiration! Chances are, you probably have the perfect photo(s) waiting to be used already. Try to find elements from your photos that coordinate with the "feel" or "theme" of your papers and embellishments.

Who knew old tractor tire rust could be so inspirational??? ;)

    A Peek Into my Space!

Happy Wednesday TSR Party People!!!! So, how are you enjoying our month long par-tay? We have been trying to share with you TONS of inspiration, and today I hope will not disappoint! I am taking you on a tour of my scrap space, fun right? I scrapbook in a small closet that adjoins my living room. My living room used to be the garage, but was converted before we bought our house. So, my scrap space would have been the tiny garage closet that held oil, yard supplies, and "boy" stuff. The previous owners added a counter-top extending the length of the closet. When I saw it...I knew it was a match made in heaven. Take a look...

    DT Inspiration with Lan!

While working on my little cousin's baby book, I was inspired by the packaging of Lisa Frank's stickers my daughter had used. Remember them? The bright colorful sheets full of fancy designs that draws little girls to them. Take a look...

I was just about to pitch them into the recycle bin, when I noticed that the layout of squares would make a great color-blocking layout.

And here is a look at how quickly it came together. The 5 rectangles stacked in the center was calling me to use Little Yellow Bicycles Twig Collection that was already divided into sections. This paper was just too pretty to cover up.

Now, to finish it off, I decided to add a bit of stitching. I usually use my sewing machine because I don't have a ton of time to hand sew. But once in a while, it's fun to get out the needle and thread to add interest with hand stitching. Using a paper piercer, I followed the outline of the leaves and punched my template. Then I sewed just a few leaves to add a little bit of dimension.

And here is the end result...

    Sweet Baby Boy

Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by!

    Just Because with Aphra

May is a month of many gift-giving occasions. Mother's Day, Teacher Appreciation Day, Graduation, just to name a few. To help dress up some of the gift cards that I plan to give soon, I create a quick, easy and super cute gift bag.

    Just Because Gift Bag

The bag itself was cut from kraft cardstock with my Cricut Expression Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. It only takes one piece of 12" x 12" cardstock to cut this little cutie. The finished dimensions are 4" x 6" x 1.5", perfect for a gift card.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Girls' Paperie Jubilee, Jillibean Soup Staples; Stickers: Girls' Paperie Jubilee; Button: Jenni Bowlin; Ribbon: May Arts; Twine: Divine Twine.

So, let's talk about that fun layered flower, shall we? It is easy, easy, and really packs a lot of punch. To start, I used a journal sticker from the Girls' Paperie Jubilee sticker book. Then, I took a piece of 1" x 12" pink polka dot paper, scrunched it up, attached the two ends together and formed a circle. I attached it to the back of a punched scallop circle and layered it onto the journal sticker. I layered on another Jubilee sticker and then my button, tied with twine, of course. That's it. Ahhh . . . it makes me happy!

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy May!!!
