You're going to love the bright colors and bold patterns. This paper just makes a person feel happy! AND, the embellishment that we've matched up with this kit - well, it's a surprise for tomorrow, but suffice it to say that It Is The Bomb!

April Sneak Peek #3

I want to balance out the girly colors from yesterday's sneak peek with a boy-friendly counterpart today.

Today's layout, by Fancy Pants designer, Becky Litz, and taken from their blog, showcases the new "Be Different" line. It's boy-friendly but not overly "themed," which makes it great for a variety of photos.

April Sneak Peek #2

Today's Sneak Peek layout, created by Paige Evans for the manufacturer's blog, might be slightly more challenging to identify. Can you name the featured product line?

April Sneak Peek #1

This week is our Spring Break week, and our family took a trip to visit our college son in Missouri. He wasn't able to come home during his spring break because he had to work, so this momma was itchin' to see him! I tried to begin Sneak Peek Week on the road from my husband's smartphone,. but I ended up posting directly to my husband's Facebook Page instead of The ScrapRoom page, and my son texted me two hours later that I was destroying my husband's man-credit on Facebook with my ScrapRoom post. I didn't realize what I had done, and clearly I was not as tech-savvy as I was shooting for. (I got rid of my smartphone in January, and it's been more challenging that I thought it would be...) Anyway, without further delay, here is our first April Sneak Peek:

Today's Sneak Peek is from the Simple Stories blog, by designer Cari Locken and features the new A Charmed Life line. You'll love this unique color combination!

Weekend Challenge: 30-Minute Layout!

How about another 30-minute layout challenge for the weekend? Grab one of your layout kits and one of your favorite photos that is at least 4"x 4" (bigger for more "pow" - but you can always make it larger with a photo mat or two). You'll be able to create this layout in less than 30 minutes, from start to finish! I'd love to see your variations, so be sure to post a link in the comments section or on our Facebook page!

  • Cut (9) 3.75"x 3.75" blocks of patterned paper; aim for 5-6 different patterns
  • Mat a favorite photo with some coordinating cardstock or patterned paper (or both for a couple of layers)
  • Assemble your patterned paper blocks around the edge of a sheet of cardstock, leaving narrow margins around each block, creating a grid.
  • Add your matted photo in the center and embellish the page as desired.

Daily Dose of Layout Inspiration!

Today's layout is brought to you by TSR Designer, Rochelle Spears. She used the October Afternoon Snapshots layout kit from the March Flavors of the Month Kit to highlight this sweet photo. I love how Rochelle created "flow" throughout the layout with the paint splatters on the cardstock and the pop drops on the patterned papers. And, I LOVE how she used one of those pop drops on the wood veneer camera. Super-cute!

Project Life Inspiration!

I am instinctively drawn to the 4x6 card on this layout, which states, "Let's Go Outside."Aren't we all yearning for warmer weather this week? At least the sun is shining here...

Aphra is rockin' The ScrapRoom's March kits with this two-page pocket layout. Aphra used some of the cards in her March Project Life Kit and some additional patterned papers from the coordinating BasicGrey Fresh Cut layout kit in the March Flavors of the Month Kit, trimmed down to pocket size.

Project Life Emphasis Day: Inserts

Hi there Project Lifers.  Today, I thought I'd share with you how I use inserts in my Project Life albums.  By inserts, I mean extra page protectors within my weekly spread to house all those extra pictures or memorabilia that just would not fit into my two 12" x 12" page protectors.  This month I used inserts for two of my spreads.  However, I didn't post the inserts in the Ideas Gallery at the website, so I thought I would share them here for you.

@ the Farm

For this spread, we had gone to an Easter Egg Hunt / Spring Fling at a farm down the road from my parents' house where I grew up.  It was a beautiful sunny day with lots of activities; therefore, I went a bit snap happy.  I just couldn't pare down my pictures, so I grabbed an insert.  This one is by American Crafts, and it holds six 4" x 6" photos.  I only had five, so I created a title card just for the set of photos that I included on the insert.  Here's the front and back of the insert.

Oh Snap! . . . March

This spread is my March daily page.  Each month, I find that I have enough random, daily shots to fill two Design A Becky Higgins Page Protectors.  I love that all the random shots are together, so that the rest of my spreads are a bit more cohesive and have a color scheme to them.  Again, I had too many pictures, but I also had some of my youngest son's schoolwork.  Since St Patrick's Day is in March, I thought this was a good way to include something from the pile of papers that we have saved over the last school year.  I just slipped it into an 8.5" x 11" Avery Sheet Protector and popped it in the album.  SO easy!

The second insert for this page is for more random photos.  This one is a Becky Higgins Design H Page Protector.  You could actually use your paper trimmer to cut down a Design A one, too.  Aside from slipping in photos, I added two 4" x 6" cards.  So simple.  Again, the front and back of the photo insert.

Using inserts in my Project Life album has really helped me spend less time on creating my spreads.  Seems odd, right?  But I don't spend nearly as much time culling or resizing or cropping photos.  I just grab (or create) an insert and include them all!  Plus, my kids love being able to see their Valentine's Cards, report cards, artwork, certificates, notes, and other mementos right in the album.  Have you used any inserts in your albums?  Any tips?  Favorite page protectors?  I'd love to hear!

March Add-On Kits - More of what you love!

At The ScrapRoom, we encourage our members to customize their product options based on their own personal scrapbooking styles and budgets. We start with our monthly Flavors of the Month Kit and we build everything around that. All of our add-on kits are designed to coordinate with our Flavors of the Month Kit.

For those scrapbookers who like to use a LOT of embellishments, for lumpy-and-bumpy-and-layered-and-textured layouts, we offer our EMBELLISHMENT KIT.

For those who can't get enough patterned papers and love to layer patterns and colors, we offer our PATTERNED PAPER KIT, which contains (2) additional patterned papers to coordinate with each of the (4) layout kits in the main monthly kit.

For those who love to use cardstock as the base for their pages and love to have lots of cardstock options for mounting their photos, we offer our coordinating CARDSTOCK KIT, which contains (3) additional sheets of cardstock to coordinate with each of the (4) layout kits in the main monthly kit.
(And, occasionally we even throw in some specialty cardstock, like this month's 2-sided cardstock from LilyBee Designs. One side features a solid color and the other side features a tone-on-tone polka dot! LOVE IT!)

And finally, for the stampers among us, we offer a coordinating STAMP SET each month. Some months, our featured stamp set will come from the same paper line as one of our layout kits in the Flavors of the Month Kit, and some months, we feature a stamp set that is more generally scrapbooker-friendly.
(Don't you just LOVE this month's Rotary Stamp from American Crafts? I see so many great options for stamping onto journaling and labeling strips!)

So, which add-on kits would you choose to coordinate with your scrapbooking style?

(The 6x8 papers are designed to be trimmed into smaller sections to fill a variety of different sized photo sleeves.)

This month's embellishments include chipboard accents, die-cuts, foil leaves, butterflies and sequence, alpha stickers, labeling stickers, die-cut frames, and a tin pin - lots of little goodies to jazz up your cards, photos and photo sleeves.
