    Aphra's Christmas Tradition!

We have many Christmas traditions at our house, but my favorite one is that of the Christmas pajamas. Every year since the birth of my second son, I have bought my two boys coordinating pajamas to wear on Christmas morning. Every year I take their picture wearing them and then create a scrapbook layout about them. Now that my oldest son is eleven, I'm not sure how much longer he'll cooperate. Here's a journey through Christmas pajamas of past.
    2011

This year I bought non-traditional pajamam. Paul Frank's Monkey. Too cute! And I learned how to take the glowing photo of the Christmas tree using THIS tutorial. It was super easy.

    2010

Last year, my younger son was insistent on wearing "zippy pajamas." I did not buy a matching pair for the ten-year-old, so he got a nice green plaid pair. Not as matchy matchy, but still festive for Christmas morning.

    2009

In 2009, I went for a different color scheme and got red, brown, and gray pajams. Flames for the older boy and bears for the younger one. Oh, and do you see another tradition? It's Christmas morning Monkey Bread. Mmmm!!! I use THIS amazing recipe.

    2008

Christmas Pajamas 2008 were by far my favorite pair. I got the boys some bright, striped thermals from The Children's Place. They have such a wonderful assortment of fun colors and patterns and they sell big and little kid sizes.

    2007

And finally, the very first year of matching Christmas pajamas. Gosh, just looking at these photos reminds me how much they've grown. * sniff * sniff * My little snaggle-tooth first grader in his plaid flannels and my baby wearing a Christmas sleeper with a side of drool. Awww . . . I'm so thankful that I scrapbook, so I can look back at this sweet family tradition for years to come.

Merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season! And best of luck to you in snapping as many photos as possible so that you can remember this special time for years to come.

    Last Minute Tip!

Well, it is almost time...only a few more sleeps until Christmas! As excited as I am, I am still feeling a bit anxious to get all of my last minute "to-dos" finished. You too?

I just wanted to drop a quick note this morning to share the sweet little tags that of Design Team created this month. Tags might be small, but they can sure pack a BIG punch! You can add them to a plain gift bag, dangle it off of a gift that is too big to wrap, or coordinate it with your favorite wrapped gift! Here is a look at what our Design Team did this month...

Lovely, right? Well, hope you're not stressed too much...Happy Tuesday!

    Melanie's Christmas Traditions!

Each year I always try to get a family picture in front of our tree. It has become a bit more challenging as the boys like to try and run away or be silly. We are still working on this year's photo :) I made this layout with my photo from 2010.

    2010
My boys' favorite tradition is their Chocolate Advent Calendars and the Lego Advent Calendars. Each morning they run to the kitchen to open them up. Yes...they get to eat the chocolate before breakfast...they love it!

One of my favorite decoration is our Little People Nativity Set. I love to watch the boys play with the set and act out the Christmas Story. I also have a very nice Willow Nativity set, but I have not put it out this year since my boys like to touch it too much...maybe next year :)

Christmas Eve dinner with my Dad's side is always lasagna ...my Grandma used to make homemade noodles! I can't imagine how long it would take her, since multiple pans of lasagna are needed for 6 kids, spouses, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren. We always have pizzelle cookies and often cannoli too...yum!

Ours is always full of Italian Sausage too.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

    Saturday Fun with Tammy!!

Hello Scrappin' Friends! It's Tammy here with a short tutorial on how to make your own quick-and-easy Purse-Sized Holiday Planner with a file folder and your December Kit! When I'm planning and shopping for Christmas every year, I like to use some form of a holiday planner to help me keep track of things like gift ideas, what I've purchased/made for whom, shopping lists, baking and grocery lists, etc. Furthermore, I want all of these lists that I am constantly creating and modifying to be with me when I'm shopping, which means that my holiday planner needs to fit into my purse. I generally create my own planner each year, and I've played around with different sizes and styles over the past few years. When I came across the FREE Pocket Holiday Planner PRINTABLES on the OrganizedChristmas website, I knew I had found this year's design.

The base of this pocket planner is a regular ol' file folder. I had a slightly used file folder on hand, so I flattened it out, grabbed the Jillibean Soup Christmas layout kit from my December Flavors of the Month Kit, and I made my 2011 Holiday Planner in less than an hour.

My instructions are going to be a little loose with the measurements, as your measurements will depend on the exact dimensions of your folder segments after you fold it. (My first segment is smaller than the other three segments because I wanted to put a small notepad there.)
    1. Open up the file folder and turn upside down. Score the entire folder at 3" from the bottom and fold up, creating a long pocket across the bottom of the folder.
    2. Fold the left side of the folder into the center and crease, creating 2 segments.
    3. Fold the right side of the folder into the center and crease, creating 2 more segments.
    4. You should be able to accordian-fold the planner. (The natural fold of the folder will be the mountain-fold in the center of the planner. The two additional folds that you created in steps #2 and 3 will be the valley-folds.)
    5. Measure the (4) segments and cut (4) pieces of patterned paper to fit on top of the (4) folder segments. I left a small margin around all three of the sides that are showing, and I just cut it long enough that the bottom of the patterned paper will be hidden by the top of the pocket. Adhere your patterned paper pieces.

    6. To create the pockets, add a THIN row of adhesive to the inside edges of the bottom flap. (You are creating pockets, so make sure that you don't put adhesive across the top of the pocket, as you want your papers to fit inside. Fold it up and adhere. You will now have (4) pocket segments.
    7. Decorate the front of your pockets. I used cardstock and the patterned paper penguins and trees. :)
    8. Decorate the front of your planner. I kept mine very simple because I wanted it to be fairly flat. I also wanted to be able to use the planner as a place to write notes, etc., so I added a piece of covered chipboard to the front to create a hard surface so that I could write on it (like a clipboard).
    9. Add the words, "holiday planner" to the tab sticking out on the right with small alphabet stickers.
    10. I keep my planner intact by wrapping a thick rubberband around it. Some people want to use ribbon, and while that is prettier, I didn't want to mess with tying and untying, so a rubberband works best for me.
    11. Finally, follow this link to download and print your FREE Holiday Pocket Planner Forms that were designed to fit into these pockets. You have several different ones to choose from. FREE HOLIDAY POCKET PLANNER FORMS
If you make your own Holiday Planner, I'd love to see it, so post a link in the comments section so that we can see some different versions! However you handle the Holiday Planning at your house this year, I hope it is relatively stress-free and joyful!

What's Your Favorite Christmas Tradition Jenny?

Ahhh, December. For me, it's the craziest, most hectic month of the year, but it's almost one of my favorite months of the year. Christmas has always been my most favorite holiday! I am so thankful for parents who taught me the real meaning of Christmas and what it is truly about.

Yes, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of buying presents, going to all the holiday parties, and all of the other stuff that comes with this month...but please don't forget this season's true meaning. A gift was given to the world that we could never, ever repay...a gift that we didn't even deserve...but it was freely given to us anyway. My favorite family tradition celebrates this gift!

Every Christmas morning for as long as I can remember, my precious dad reads about the birth of Jesus from the Bible and then we pray together as a family before we open presents.

This tradition is so near and dear to my heart. The way we have to get everyone all settled in the living room and gathered around my dad before he starts reading. The wonder and amazement on my kids' faces as they hear the Bible story. The way dad's voice always waivers a bit whenever he starts praying. The way EVERYONE in the room ends up in tears of thankfulness and gratitude by the end of the story and prayer. The gift of love that was given to us so many years ago through the birth of Jesus is so evident in my family. To me, that is exactly what Christmas is all about. ;)

    Merry Christmas!
