DT Inspiration: MME Stamp!

Isn't the March kit fantastic??? I loved the MME Miss Caroline line and wanted to use it all up and I needed 2 extra cards this month...so it was perfect!

My kit came with a yellow felt border strip and I wasn't quite sure how to use it. Then I thought I could stamp directly on it...yay it worked! I used Versafine ink and it didn't smear at all! I used this felt strip on both cards.

For my first card, I used the sketch from MME's blog so it came together quickly! This card is for my Grandpa who turning 80 in a week! (Happy Birthday Grandpa!)

The other card was for my brother-in-law. I realized I should have used a plain circle punch instead of the scallop one so it would be more "manly" :). Oh well, I'm sure he appreciated it and it is probably just me thinking this. I stamped the card stock with the number stamp from this month's stamp add-on to create the background.

Enabler alert: You seriously need this stamp! I loved the number stamp and the texture dots stamp!

If you have a few pieces left over of your kit...cards are a great way to kill that kit!

DT Inspiration: Perfectly Punched Pennants

Hi there TSR peeps! Aphra here today with a quick and easy tutorial for creating perfect pennants every time. In case you haven't noticed, I have been a bit obsessed with banners and pennants on my layouts and cards for a little while. Well, recently, I discovered a trick that makes them even easier to make. I thought I'd share it with you today.

First, gather together your supplies. A couple of square punches, any size, and some strips of patterned paper, any length but close in width to your punches

Next, you will flip your punch over and place your strip into it at an angle. Keep sliding your paper in until the two sides are lined up with the edges of the square. Then, punch.

Then, voila, you have nice even pennant edges! Here's how I used it on the left side of my Recipe Card layout.

I hope you'll give this quick and easy trick a try. If you do, leave me a comment on this post so I can see. Have a great day!

Scraplift Challenge!

Along with our monthly Sketch Challenge at The ScrapRoom, for the past few months, we've also been issuing a "Freaky Fast Page" Challenge (which by the way, is a super-fun challenge!) This month, we've decided to switch things up just a bit to keep it interesting around here - so instead of our Freaky Fast Page Challenge, in March, we're offering up an oldie-but-a-goodie challenge here at TSR - and we're bringing back the "SCRAPLIFT CHALLENGE!" (One of my favorite scrapbooking challenges!)

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to create a layout based on any of the layouts created by our Design Team in this month's March Idea Gallery! You've got so much inspiration to choose from, so pick a layout that inspirs you and create your version. Feel free to modify it to fit your photos, of course, but we want to see how you're inspired by our Design Team this month.

Be sure to follow the link to the March Idea Gallery to see ALL of this month's delicious inspirational choices that you have to choose from! Here are a few of my favorites this month.

by Aphra Bolyer, using the MME Miss Caroline Kit

by Jenny Moore, using the LYB Saturdays Kit

by Melanie Call, using the MME Kraft Fun Day Kit

by Jenny Moore, using the LYB Paradise Kit

And, I love how Melanie Call combined a couple of the kits (LYB Saturdays and MME Miss Caroline) to create this little cutie! (I didn't even realize that these kits would go so well together - Awesome!

If you're looking for a two-pager, I'm totally in love with this layout by Aphra Bolyer, using the MME Miss Caroline Kit. (This lovely layout is also one of our Recipe Cards this month, so you'll be able to download the cutting and assembly directions for a complete and stress-free scraplifting experience - if you purchased this month's FOTM Kit!)

And, we can't forget to include some Doubleshot Kit Love here as well.

by Brenda Carpenter, using the Jenni Bowlin Magpie kit

by Tammy Harp (me), using the Echo Park This-n-That Charming kit
(This was my favorite layout that I created this month. It is 8x8, and I love the layout topic - my oldest son starting to drive - such a monumental and pivotal time in anybody's life. (sigh...)

Okay, I'm done lamenting how quickly time flies, and I'm ready to get back to the Scraplift Challenge details. If you'd like to participate in the month's challenge, create a layout based on one of this month's gallery images and submit your layout using our Mister Linky system below. Just follow the directions below and your layout will show up as a thumbnail on this post. You may enter as many times as you like until March 31st. Our design team will choose a winner for a $10.00 Gift Certificate to our ScrapRoom Store, which will be announced on the blog next month.

Finally, I want to thank everyone for participating in our February Freaky Fast Challenge - so many great layouts with that formula. Our February Freaky Fast Challenge Winner was scraphappy3! Please e-mail me at admin@scrap-room.com with your real-life name, e-mail address and the name of the contest you won to receive your FREE $10.00 Gift Certificate to our TSR Store!

Now, choose your favorite layout in this month's gallery and get some scrapbooking done this week!

DT Inspiration: Spring Home Decor

Hello there, everyone!  Jenny here.

Ahhh....it's almost springtime! Here in central Texas, we have been having some gorgeous Spring-like weather in the 70s and 80s. :) I love it!

I don't know about you, but the beautiful weather has me wanting to spruce up my home and yard and tackle a few "spring cleaning" projects. With the inspiration from sites like Pinterest, I have been playing with a few home decor projects. We all love using our scrap supplies for layouts and cards, but home decor projects are certainly doable with the lovely items from our TSR kits too! :)

Here are a couple I have created lately:

For this framed wall art, I bought a $3 black divided frame at Wal-Mart and used leftover pieces from the January 2012 monthly kit. Instead of adding photos in the photo slots, I used my papers and embellishments to create 1-of-a-kind artwork. :)

Also using the January 2012 monthly kit leftovers, I created this:

I bought a 3-pack of super cheap little canvases (again from Wal-Mart), and painted 1 of the canvases dark gray. I then punched little hearts out of all my paper scraps from the January kit and adhered them to my canvas. I also added the canvas letter stickers to spell "love." These letter stickers were also included in the kit, so I already had everything I needed! :) I Mod-Podged over everything and let it dry, and then I set the canvas on a cute little black metal easel. This is now proudly displayed on my fireplace mantle.

So, if you are running out of pictures to go with your kit leftovers...or if you just don't feel like scrapping a page or card with your leftover supplies...try out some home decor projects instead! There are tons of super easy and quick ideas out there, and I hope you are inspired to add a little personal homemade touch to your own home. :)
