Final Freaky Fast Layout of September!!
It's me, Frances, here with my last FREAKY FAST LAYOUT using September's formula!!
And here is a reminder of September's formula...
1. Cardstock or Patterned Paper Background
2. 9 X 9 patterned paper
3. 3 X 11 1/4 patterned paper
4. 1 1/2 X 11 1/2 patterned paper
5. 1 X4 patterned paper
And here is the steps to completing your layouts using the September formula...
1. Collect a few pics.
2. Cut your patterned paper to the dimensions stated above.
3. Push the paper around your cardstock till you achieve the look you want, or simply copy my layout below!
4. Adhere and EMBELLISH! It is that easy!!
Here is a look at my 3rd SEPTEMBER FREAKY FAST PAGE...
This layout was created using the Garden Cafe kit from the Flavors of the Month Kit. And instead of creating the obvious single page layout, I decided to shake things up a bit and create a double!! I began with creating my 9 X 9 squares. As you know, if you use one FOTM kit, you can not get 2-9 X 9 squares in the same pattern. So to make the 9 X 9 squares the same on each page, I cut one pattern 6 X 9 and another pattern 3 X 9. Add those together and you get a 9 X 9 square with 2 patterns...easy!! Instead of running double the strips of paper, I ended up using the strips on one side. I did use the 1 X 4 strip...do you see it? I actually put the pieces together and made a 1 X 8 strip, and used a border punch to create the scallop. This layout, obviously, took longer than the singles, but it only took 1 hour. I think that is pretty good, right?
Thanks so much for stopping by again to see my Freaky Fast layouts this month! I will be back again in October with another fun formula. Have a great weekend!!

Design Team Inspiration with Kim!!
Hi Scrappy Friends!Today I wanted to talk to you about making your very own Accordion Flowers. I'm not much of a flower kind of girl but I do like to sometimes add a flower or two and what better way than to make your own!!!! I'm sure you have noticed that many manufacturers have hopped on the Accordion flower band wagon and are selling them to you, the consumer, pre-made. Well, why buy them when you can make a small investment, and make them yourselves. What I am referring to is the the new Tim Holtz die-cut that works with your Sizzix Big Shot and it looks like this.....
Now, if you would rather not buy a die for your flowers, you can always make them according to the following instructions and still get the same results.....
Step 1: Before beginning, decide how wide you would like your accordion to be. If you want it to span 2 inches, then cut your paper 1 inch. If you would like it 3 inches, cut your paper 1 1/2 inches. Measurements for either would be 12"x 1" or 12"x 1.5".
and this is an example of the flower made with the die.....

Step 2: Score the paper at 1/4 inch intervals the entire length of the paper.
Step 3: Fan fold at each score mark.
Step 4: Attach glue dot or sticky strip. Glue it end to end.
Step 5. Lay the flower out. Bring the center in tightly.
***Use a circle punch and punch out a piece of the printed paper to use for the back of the flower. This keeps the flower grounded.

I hope you find this informative and helpful!!!! Now go make those flowers and have a scrappy good time!!!!!!

Design Team Inspiration with Lan!!
Ribbon/Bookmark Tutorial -
Hi there, I"m continuing with the school theme as it's the month most of our kids get back into that routine and even some of us adults are heading back ourselves. And if you're one of those few, a big pat on the back to you!
So get your paper and scissors out because today, I am going to show you how to sharpen those pencils.
Step 1: Pull out your scraps and cut to the following dimensions
Step 4: For the pencil top, I measured out the center point and cut it into a triangle, then using the black cats eye chalk again, I inked it.
Step 5: Now you have the completed pencil pieces, just assemble it onto a coordinating 2"x4" piece of pattern paper.
Step 6: Next I layered these on longer sheets of cardstock, and added some letter stickers.
Step 7: For the bottom, I used my Dragonback scissors again and for the top, I used my coluzzle to cut the rounded shape where the red line is.
Step 8: For the final touches I punched a small star and looped a piece of ribbon on the top.
And that completes my tutorial on these cute easy ribbons that can be given to your star student for all their hard work or recycle as a bookmark.
