So...Diagonal Stripes?

Did you know that The ScrapRoom has a Message Board? Well, we do, and the chit-chat over there is sooooo much fun!! They chat about everything, from what's for dinner to what kind of scrapbook adhesive you may use. Did you know there is a weekly challenge on the Message Board? Well, there is. The challenges are posted on Sunday, and they are super fab. This week I am hosting the challenge, per the request of one of our members. The challenge...diagonal stripes. Check out my layout using diagonal stripes...

I must say, I kinda shy away from diagonal stripes sometimes. But I do find that when I use them in small doses, I like it. On this layout I used the MME True Blue Collection from January's FOTM kit. It has the most beautiful mix of colors on the diagonal stripe piece. But to help me get over my fear, I just used a small strip.

So, Tammy (because she is just the best) has decided that to encourage you to use diagonal stripes, she would throw in a sweet prize. Yep, a $5 gift certificate to the TSR store!!! All you have to do to be eligible is create a layout using diagonal stripes....that is it!! Make sure to comment to this post, and leave us a link to your layout by February 19th. We will post the winner on January 2oth right here.

And BTW, if you are loving the supplies I used, there are a few February kits left. In the FOTM kit you get 3 of the papers, Pink Paislee brads, green and white twine, and cardstock!!! Not Your Everyday Valentine's Day Cards

Can the post title be any longer? Sorry, when I kinda get something in my head, even if it is too long, I can't let it go. Anyhoo, I'm back to show you what I was inspired to create from my smorgasbord of photos. Remember? This one...from yesterday...

Yep, LOTS of pink...LOTS of hearts...LOTS of cuteness! Well, my cards share a few of those attributes, but not maybe what you are expecting. Grab a cup of Joe and let me explain. Exhibit A...

We Have Chemistry

It certainly has a ca-ute sentiment, right? But maybe not the color scheme you are used to when you think love, hearts, and Valentine's Day. This card is in fact perfect for my hubby-pooh. I used the Jillibean Soup Atomic Soup Collection from the January FOTM kit...love it!!! And for a Valentine for your sweetie, it could work. Don't ya think?

I was inspired by 2 of the pics above...the top right and bottom right. The one on top had that retro, pretty pink wood grain, and the bottom had the banner...just the combo I was looking for. Lets move on...Exhibit B...

Hmmmmm....Where's the sentiment?

Uh-oh...I forgot the sentiment!!! Just kidding! I really did it on purpose, really! This was tough for me, I must confess. I kinda pride myself in the creative title area. I actually get a bit pompous when I think of a good one, but I challenged myself to create a card without a sentiment. I do, however, believe that this simple little cards says "love"...don't ya think? I used the Bella Blvd. Lovey Dovey Collection, and my my it is sweet. It is also from the January FOTM kit.

For this card, I was inspired by those oh-so yummy looking cookies in the center!! But instead of 1 simple heart, I add 2 more to make 3.

Hope I have inspired you to use some of your scraps from the January kits! Don't forget that even if the paper does not SCREAM pink, hearts, and love, you can still use them for a sweet valentine!

Sweet Inspiration!

Hey!!!! Frances here, and I am super excited to be making my 1st post!! Whoot! Whoot! It's monumental...a precedent...lots of pressure! Nah, just kidding! Like I said, I am very excited about my new position here at The ScrapRoom, and look forward to chatting with you regularly.

Anyhoo, since I will be posting so often, I have a feeling we are going to get to know each other well. I could do a formal intro, but truly I only give those to people because have to. I am not very formal at all. I am a teacher, a wife, and a mommy of 4 kiddos. I am inspired daily by the things around me, especially by pack of kids. Here is what we look like on a daily basis...

Yes, I know they are cute people, but don't be fooled. Just 2 seconds before this photo was taken one was pinching the other, one was left in the house, and another one walked outside without shoes on (BTW, we were on our way to the grocery store).

Speaking of inspiration, are you feeling inspired yet for Valentine's Day? I LOVE Valentine's Day!! We really do it BIG at our house. We make homemade valentines for each other, I make heart shaped pancakes, we drink strawberry milk with red straws, and each of the kids have a sweet basket full of treats and sweet nothings...way fun! Anyhoo, are you inspired by this...

Wowee, I am. And make sure to check back tomorrow. I will be showing how a few of these sweet pics inspired me for the big day.
