Just One Thing: Splash Decorative Edge Cardstock

This month's Flavors of the Month kit includes a round decorative edge piece of cardstock from Little Yellow Bicycle's Splash collection.  Today, I thought I'd focus on the various ways that the design team incorporated this fun piece of paper into their layouts.

Making a Splash by Brenda

Brenda chose to add the entire circle to her layout, even letting the top of it hang off the page a bit.  She stitched around its edge and added a variety of buttons to some of the scallops for extra dimension.

Jenny and Melanie chose to cut the circle in half.  What a great way to stretch your supplies!  The half circle looks great placed vertically, as in Jenny's layout, or horizontally, as in Melanie's layout, and provides a great place for the title.

I used the circle to bridge the gap between the left and right sides of my recipe card layout.  This one sheet of paper has a lot of visual impact on the design.

So, how are you planning to use the Little Yellow Bicycle Splash Decorative Edge Cardstock on your layout?

Just One Thing: Buttons and Brads

Ok, so, buttons and brads aren't really one thing, are they?  But, I just had to share how Brenda and Jenny used all the fabulous buttons and brads in this month's kit to create embellishment clusters sprinkled on their layouts.

A sticker and a few well-placed buttons or brads add a lot of dimension and texture to a layout.  And the Crater Paper fabric brads in the July Flavors of the Month kit are so varied and lovely.  Don't leave 'em in the bag, ladies.  Sprinkle!

Just One Thing: Fancy Pants Ribbon

Rumor has it that several of you have received your May kits.  Yayyy!!!  Hopefully, you picked up this fabulous Embellishment Add-On.

Today, I want to focus on just one thing in this kit.  The Fancy Pants Be You Grey and Black Striped Ribbon.  Isn't it lovely?  But what do you do with it?  Well, here are a few ideas from this month's gallery.

For You Tag by Brenda

You can dress up a simple tag with some of the ribbon knotted in the top. Notch the ends, so they don't fray. How super cute and easy, right?

Sis in Law by Melanie

You can add a strip of ribbon amongst your strips of patterned paper and make it look like a bow.  And look how cute the stick pins are!

Good Eats by Jenny

You can put a knot in the ribbon and add it across your page to ground your title.  Aren't those alphabet stickers too cute against the black and grey?  Love!

Hi Card by Aphra

You can create a pleated flower for a card or layout. Finish it off with a button, a tag, and some leaves and you have a unique embellishment.  Here's how to create the flower.  Add a running stitch to the edge of the ribbon.  Gather the ribbon by pulling on the ends of your thread and tying together.  Use a thick glue dot to attach the flower to your project.

So, what are you planning to do with Fancy Pants ribbon? Be sure to upload your project in our Member Gallery HERE because we'd love to see.

Happy Scrapping!
