June Page Starter!!!

Last month, we started a new feature here on the blog, our Page Starter challenge.  And guess what? It's time to do it again!

Remember, each month I'll post the directions to get you started on a scrapbook layout.  I'll show you an example and then leave you to finish it up with whatever photos, papers, and embellishments work for you.  That's it!  Here's this month's starter.

Here's what you'll need to get started.  First, you need a background piece.  I chose to use a patterned piece rather than cardstock because the June kit is chock full of papers that work for the background.  You'll also need four more patterned papers cut to the following dimensions:

                                                     1.  5.5" circle
                                                     2.  3.5" x 10" strip
                                                     3.  1.5" x 10.5" scalloped strip
                                                     4.  1" x 11" notched strip

Now you're ready to start adhering the paper to the page.  Here are the directions for placing the patterned paper.
  1. Adhere the 3.5" x 10" strip 6" from the top and flush with the right edge of the page.
  2. Adhere the scalloped strip right beneath the first strip flush with the right edge of the page.
  3. Adhere the circle 2" from the left edge and 2.75" from the top edge of the page.
  4. Adhere the 1" strip flush with the right edge and over the seam of the previous two paper strips.

Finally, you will add your photos and embellishments.  This part is completely up to you.  There is no set limit to the number of photos or no set placement for them.  Also, you can use whatever embellishments you like, wherever you want to place them on the layout.

Here's one way that you could finish the June Page Starter.  For this layout, I used Bazzill Vintage Marketplace papers and two 3" by 5" vertical photos.

It's All About the Bunnies

I'll be back in a week or so to show you another finished layout.  In the meantime, I'd love to see what you do with the June Page Starter.  Link up your completed layout to the bottom of this post by Saturday, June 30th for your chance at a $10 Gift Certificate to the TSR Store.

Happy Scrappin!

LOVE the color scheme here and the title embellishing!  And how cute is that little birthday boy?  Sweet!  Congratulations, Rochelle!  And now for our Page Starter Challenge. . .

Fish by Marcia

I just love this color scheme and the clusters of flowers.  But my favorite part is the twine looped around the brads.  Such a great idea!

Congratulations ladies!  Please email Tammy at admin@scrap-room.com with your real name, address, and the name of the contest you won. She will, in turn, mail your prize to you.

See you all tomorrow with the June sketch!

May Page Starter: Version 2

Happy Friday to you friends!  I'm back to share the completed version of my May Page Starter.  Here is what it looked like with just the patterned paper.

And here is what it looks like with pictures and embellishments.  Nothing fancy, but it didn't need much with so many patterns going on.

I added a simple strip of October Afternoon 9 to 5 Washi Tape above the bottom strips of paper.  The color was a perfect match to the green in the Fancy Pants paper and the days of the week reinforced the theme of my page.

I used the Tim Holtz label stickers to ground the first two words of my title, which I created with the Lily Bee mini alphabet stickers. I thought the word "everyday" really tied in the office products and the days of the week washi tape.

So, have you completed a layout with the May Page Starter formula yet?  If so, be sure to link up to the original post HERE by midnight on Thursday, May 31st to be eligible to win a $10 gift certificate to the TSR store.  Happy scrapping!

New Feature: Page Starters

Happy Friday friends!  With the weekend just hours away, it is the perfect time to introduce a new feature here on The ScrapRoom blog called Page Starters.

Each month I'll post the directions to get you started on a scrapbook layout.  I'll show you an example and then leave you to finish it up with whatever photos, papers, and embellishments work for you.  That's it!

May's Page Starter

And here's what you'll need to get your page started.  First, you need a sheet of card stock and three or more patterned papers.  Then, you'll need to make the following cuts:

1.  9.25" x 10"
2.   5.5" x 12"
3.   .15" x 12"
4.   .25" x 12"
5.   .75" x 12"

Now you're ready to start adhering the paper to the page.  Here are the directions for placing the patterned paper.

1.  The large block has rounded corners and is 1" from the top and right edges.
2.  The 5.5" x 12" strip is 3.5" from the top edge.
3.  The .25" strip is above and the .15" and .75" strips are below the 5.5" strip.

Finally, you will add your photos and embellishments.  This part is completely up to you.  There is no set limit to the number of photos or no set placement for them.  Also, you can use whatever embellishments you like, wherever you want to place them on the layout.

Here's one way that you could finish the May Page Starter.  For this layout, I used Fancy Pants' Be You papers and embellishments, a 5" x 5" and a 2" x 3" photo.

I'll be back in a week or so to show you another finished layout, the one I started up top.  In the meantime, I'd love to see what you do with the May Page Starter.  Link up your completed layout to the bottom of this post by Thursday, May 31st for your chance at a $10 Gift Certificate to the TSR Store.
