Week #13 Weekly Challenge!

Welcome to our Week #13 Weekly Challenge! The inspiration for this week's challenge comes from a bonus April Sneak Peek Layout by Barista, Brenda Carpenter. Your challenge this week is to create a layout with a "pieced quilt" border. Follow Brenda's example and use some of your favorite patterned paper pieces to create a border that has an old-fashioned quilted feel to it. Now, Brenda just happened to have some gorgeous "pre-pieced" paper from April's upcoming Flavors of the Month Kit, so she didn't have to do a lot of piecing, but you can get the same look by gathering together some coordinated patterned paper scraps and overlapping them on the edges of your layout. Easy-peasy-piecing.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Create a layout with a "pieced quilt" border. Upload your layout here --->>> WEEK #13 CHALLENGE FOLDER. All layouts must be uploaded to the Week #13 Challenge Folder by 9:00 a.m. CST on Monday, April 5th, to be eligible for the prize.

THE PRIZE: This week we've got a fun prize package from the American Crafts Blue Skies line. Nothing helps usher in springtime better than these great spring-themed scrapbooking goodies - complete with (2) sets of coordinating Thickers!

CHALLENGE RULES:There are only 2 rules if you want to enter a weekly challenge:
1.) Your submission has to be a new layout created for this challenge. :) You're on your honor here, but the idea of a Weekly Challenge is to finish new layouts and not simply upload old layouts. :) (Your actual layouts can be done in any size - 12x12, 8.5x11, 8x8... whichever size you scrapbook in!
2.) Please only submit one time for each weekly challenge! (You will need to be registered on our message board to upload your layout to the Challenge Folder gallery. Registration just requires that we confirm your e-mail address so we know you're not a spammer. :)

April Sneak Peek Day #6

Today is the final day in our April Sneak Peek Week countdown. After seeing a bit of each of our April Kit lines, aren't you excited for the big reveal tomorrow and even more excited about getting these awesome new papers and embellishments into your scraprooms in a few days?!

Well, I promised another hint to help you figure out who this month's Guest Designer is, and I think you'll find a HUGE hint about what her name is if you look closely at her layout below. :) If you would like to venture a guess, post a comment with her name (first and last) or her message board user ID. We'll choose one random winner from all of the correct guesses for a $10.00 Gift Certificate to The ScrapRoom! (Our contest closes tomorrow at noon.)

Our sneak peek today showcases one of Margie Aslet-Romney brand new paper lines for Advantus - Paper Girl. Her debut at the CHA Winter show was definitely a highlight. I instantly fell in love with her color palettes and her design style that is so clean and fresh and will mesh with so many different scrapbooking styles. I can't wait for you to get this kit in your hands. You are going to love it!

Our website will update tomorrow with the full reveal of all of our April Club Kits and our April Idea Gallery bursting with gorgeous layouts and cards that are sure to inspire! Thanks for joining us this week, and be sure to visit again every Monday and join in on one of our Weekly Challenges. We're giving away some great prizes all month long!

April Sneak Peek Day #5

We'll be taking another look at our April Doubleshot Kit today. Remember yesterday that I told you how much I liked Rebecca's layout design and how I thought that that particular scrapbook design could be duplicated using scads of different photos, papers, and embellishments? Well, just after preparing that post, I received Shawnna's sneak peek layout for April - and unbeknownst to either Rebecca or Shawnna, they both used this same general layout design for their sneak peek layouts this month. :) I guess that just goes to show you how universal and versatile a simple well-balanced layout can be... one photo, a few snippets of patterned paper, and an embellishment or two is all you really need for a great scrapbook page.

Today's sneak peek is brought to you by Barista, Shawnna Samples. She used SEI's newest birthday line. While we don't tend toward themes in our kits, we do like to throw out a birthday line about once each year. After all, every scrapbooker I know has birthday celebration pictures, and it's always fun to get some new birthday-themed products to freshen up the stash for when it is needed. This line is filled with sweet shapes and lots of glittery sparkle. The kit itself is a veritable party in a bag. :)
