Project Life Inspiration: Shaker Pocket Tutorial
For today's Project Life post, I thought that I would share a quick and easy tutorial for how I made the Polaroid shaker pocket for this February Days layout. It's the first one in the middle row on the left side. See it?
I used the contents of my February Project Life Kit, but here's a list of supplies just in case: (8-10) American Crafts Tiny Burnished Hearts or other confetti pieces, (2) Jillibean Soup Kraft Mini Polaroid Frame Die Cuts (or cut two 3" by 4" frames out using your die cut machine), (1) 4" x 6" Acrylic Overlay, Solid Cardstock, Glue Dots, and tape runner.
Now for the steps for putting it all together. First, back each of the die cut words with a piece of coordinating cardstock. Next, cut the overlay so that it fits over the frame opening on each die cut and adhere it with glue dots. Next place one die cut on your table face down. Place the wooden hearts (or other confetti pieces) on top of the acrylic overlay. Run a strip of tape runner all around the edge of the frame. Place your other die cut on top. Trim around the edges.
And voila! A trendy shaker pocket for your Project Life pages. Hope you liked today's tutorial! See you soon.

Design Inspiration
Good Morning, Friends! I've got a brand new layout to inspire you on this Monday morning from TSR Designer, Brenda Carpenter. She used Picasa to create a photo collage of some of her favorite photos from 2013, printed it out on one sheet of photo paper and backed the collage with some patterned paper strips from the February FOTM Kit and some stickers from the February Embellishment Kit. I'm venturing a guess that this was Brenda's fabulous closing page to her 2013 Year-In-Review Album!
Brenda is continuing this time-honored tradition of creating a Year-In-Review Album using one of her Flavors of the Month layout kit each month throughout 2014. It's a great way to document a year of photos in (12) 2-page layouts! Watch your Recipe Cards for Brenda's monthly layouts!

Design Inspiration
Today's Design Inspiration is brought to you by Guest Designer, Brenda Ragsdale, using the Elle's Studio Love You More layout kit in this month's Flavors of the Month Kit! I love how she used a little accent in one of the upper page corners and in the opposite lower page corner to bring balance to the layout - and using the twine to create "motion" for the butterfly is a stroke of creative genius!

Welcome Guest Designer, Brenda Ragsdale!
Please join me in welcoming our newest Guest Designer to The ScrapRoom's Design Team - Brenda Ragsdale! Brenda is a long-time scrapbooker and has been a TSR member since 2012. Brenda is committed to preserving her family's memories and she encourages others to do the same through her sketch challenge blog, Scrap Your Stash, at www.scrapyourstash.blogspot.com. I am excited to bring feature her work in our Idea Gallery for the next few months. Welcome Brenda!
How
long have you been scrapbooking and how did you get
started?
I first started scrapbooking at the end of 2006. My
granddaughter and I spent 6 weeks on summer vacation, and I wanted to preserve
the wonderful memories we had together, so I completed my first album for her of
our summer vacation. I did not have the opportunity to scrap much for awhile after that because I live on the East coast and had to travel every three to four weeks to the West
coast to take care of my mother. But I was able to come back to it in 2010, and even if I do not complete a layout a day, I do something EVERY DAY that has
something to do with scrapbooking!
Describe your scrapbooking style:
I'm not exactly sure how to characterize my style, but I love clean lines and
layering! When I use paints, inks, etc., I only use a small amount because I
think I might “mess up” my layout!
Favorite manufacturers and why?
There are so many! Echo Park is one of my favorites
because I do a lot of boy pages, and I love their boy collections. Another favorite manufacturer is Simple Stories. I love the wonderful colors, and when using their
collections, I can create a great layout much quicker than I can with other
collections. My Mind’s Eye is also another favorite of mine - for two reasons - they offer great paper collections for scrappin' photos of my granddaughter, and I also love all of the different embellishments that you can purchase to coordinate with each collection.
Which scrapbook page designers do you admire or who
influence your style?
There are so many fabulous page designers out there, but one person
I have admired for a long time is Piradee Talvanna! I love her work!
Two others that also come to mind are Luz Maria Bruna and
Tracey Sabella.
Which scrapbooking and/or crafty blogs do you
follow?
There are so many awesome sites that I follow, but to keep
from spending so much time on the computer, I usually only get to the long list
of sketch sites that I follow, and I think I follow them all….love
sketches!!!
Any other tidbits our members want to
know?
I am a happily single mother of two adult sons, and a grandmother to two adorable grandsons and two beautiful granddaughters. My
favorite subjects to scrap are my grandchildren and my great nieces and
nephews. I wished I would have started scrapping years ago because for me, it
is the most awesome way to preserve and share the day to day memories of your
family!

Project Life Inspiration
Today, we've got some inspiration for our Project Life memory-keepers. (What are we calling this photo-sleeve-style of scrapbooking these days - Project Life scrapbooking? photo-sleeve scrapbooking? pocket scrapbooking?) At any rate, if you like to scrapbook with photo-sleeve protectors, then check out this 2-page inspiration from TSR Designer, Aphra Bolyer. Aphra used our February Flavors of the Month Kit and cut the patterned papers down to 4x6 and 3x4 card size to create this layout.
And, while we do offer a monthly Project Life Kit, with pre-cut cards and 12x12 card-style-papers, our monthly Flavors of the Month Kit is also ideal for this style of scrapbooking - as our kits feature a little bit of a lot of different product lines - so you'll never get bored!
